Do you believe in your own abilities? Do others believe
in your capabilities?
Is your current job the one thing you've always wanted to do all your life? Oh, good grief, no. What I actually like to do is to re-build vintage cars and sell them. Well, why don't you do that? Hmm, I think I am nothing like good enough for that. Besides, think of all the money I need to invest in. Then I have to find the customers to purchase. No, I am afraid that's going to remain a dream. So, you don't believe in own self. No, I didn't say that, but, well. 'But, well.' Not a very promising answer isn't it? We have complete freedom to do what we want, when we want. There's only one thing stopping us. Ourselves. Eleanor Roosevelt said many things, but she hit the nail on the head with this one. "Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent." I knew this person, (this is absolutely true, by the way), who ran a very successful coach company. The bring people to the seaside, to holiday camps, on outings generally. He was doing very well the in his business. The last time I heard about him and he could neither read nor write! Nobody told him he couldn't run a coach company by himself, so he did it because that was what he wanted to do. On the other hand, if you are just like me, you have thought of all manner of things you'd like to do, businesses you'd like to start, adventures you'd like to undertake. So why are we all still sitting here like bumps on a pickle? The answer is quite simple, because we don't have any self-confident, or at least, very little. Are you a believer in yourself? I mean, totally, one hundred percent? Many of us aren't. Self doubt comes quietly up behind us, seductively wraps its soft arms round our necks, and whispers in our ears that we shouldn't be worrying our little heads with this huge promotion. Why, there is no way on earth we are up to it. We would be buying into all manner of worry, anxiety, stress and disappointment until in the end of our life, we'd prove to ourselves and everyone else that we were never good enough for a job like that. Leave it to those who are cleverer than you, better able to handle the stress. When all is said and done, can you risk failing? What will it do to the rest of your career -- if you only have one left. That is it! Enough's enough! Time to throw off those silken arms of self-doubting and remember that when you came into this world, you had no sense of what you could or couldn't do. Supposing nothing or no-one had influenced you. Then what will you? Worth a thought, isn't it? Self-confident, self-esteem. Similar, but not the same. Are you a believer in yourself? I hope so, but most of us have too many self-doubts to allow us absolute freedom to pursue what we really want to do. Quotes for the day: "At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by
a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude
of those who have lighted the flame within us."
"Do not think that what your thoughts dwell upon is
of no matter. Your thoughts are making you. "
"I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret
the things I haven't done."
